Storylines From the Week

  • Sidney Crosby came back and is still the best player in the world - In his three games since returning from injury, he has four goals
  • It appears fairly certain that at least one Canadian team will make the playoffs this season
  • Everyone knew that Montreal would go as far as Carey Price took them, but now that Al Montoya has become as solid of a backup goaltender as there is, the Canadiens look like an elite team
  • Vancouver has come back to reality by going winless this week
  • Is Edmonton for real?  I still can't tell.  I always kind of figured that they would have a good enough offense to stay in games but I didn't think that would equal wins.  Oilers' goaltender Cam Talbot is leading the league in wins with seven, which is something I never thought would happen.  I'm still not sold on the team's defense or their goaltending, which is why I still don't buy them as a serious contender quite yet.
  • Bruce Boudreau is working his magic in Minnesota
  • What is wrong with Nashville? Their goaltenders have given up an average of 3.50 goals per game, which is a real problem for the Predators as they are paying Pekka Rinne too much money to be inconsistent.
