Week 1 Fantasy Football Recap

This week I went 3-1-1 in my four fantasy football leagues.  I will take that considering I was projected to lose at least two of the matchups.

ESPN 10 Team League - "Gregory20" Tie 103-103

  • I tied my opponent in this league, which seems pretty crazy.  I was really hindered by the complete lack of output by TE Gary Barnidge who apparently has no chemistry with RG3 in Cleveland.  Well, this coming week, I will probably stick with Barnidge because RG3 got hurt, again, and Josh McCown will be the starter.  With McCown as the main starter in Cleveland last season, Barnidge became a 1,000 yard receiver.

  • Overall, I am pretty happy with how my team performed this week.  Four of my players outperformed their projections, and those that didn't at least meet their projections, just barely were below it (except Barnidge).  I don't plan on making any changes to my roster for the upcoming week, except maybe changing who my starters are.

ESPN 10 Team League - "pigskins"

  • I lost this matchup 80-121.  A lot of this was due to Russell Wilson just not having a good week and Rob Gronkowski being unable to play.  It didn't help that my opponent started Matthew Stafford and Spencer Ware, both of whom had big weeks.

  • I got blown out this week, there's no denying it.  My opponent started an excellent roster that all performed pretty well.  I'm keeping this roster, largely because I just think that most of my players under-performed and I'll be counting on a big bounce back from them this week.

Yahoo's 12 Team League - "The League"

  • I won last week in this league 95.70 - 66.24 despite being projected to lose.  I already knew I was going to win going into the Monday night games, which is a great feeling.  I attribute this largely to the presence of A.J. Green, Carlos Hyde, and Jordan Matthews, all of whom outperformed their projections.

  • I was shocked by how well my team did this week and intend on keeping this roster intact.  I expect a bigger week from Greg Olsen this week and the rest of my starting roster seems capable of maintaining the points they put up this week.

Yahoo 16 Team Deep Keeper League – “The GM Keeper League”

  • I won in this league 609.50 - 408.20, which is basically a blowout in fantasy football.  My team performed great overall, and my point total would have been even higher had I started Alex Smith over Big Ben, but let's be honest, that's never going to happen, except during a bye week.
