About the Blog

Hello to any potential readers out there, now or in the future:

I wanted to take a few minutes to write about who I am and what I would like this blog to become. I am a lifelong lover of sports who majored in history in college and got the opportunity to write about sports history on a number of occasions.  While my career choices have not(yet) taken me to a place where I am able to write or work with sports in a professional setting, I still feel a strong pull to write about it.  Recently, my wife and her family suggested that starting a sports blog may be a good way to have a relationship with sports while also gaining more experience in writing.  So...here I am.  Ever since I was young, I have had a love for all things sports, but especially baseball, hockey, and football.  Growing up in Central and Western PA, the local fan faves were the Penguins, Pirates, Stillers, and the Penn State Nittany Lions.  Personally, my favorite teams aren't based solely on a locale, but instead have found myself aligned with the Red Sox and even, gasp!! the New England Patriots. Despite this geographic switch in my fandom, I still have a soft spot for all things Pittsburgh and have enjoyed watching the Bucs get back into the playoffs in 2013, for the first time since my birth year.

With that being said, my hope for this blog is that I can write my musings about baseball, hockey, and football with a leaning towards analytics.  I also plan to write about GM moves, both potential and confirmed.  For example, I plan on covering events including trade deadlines, league's free agency periods, as well as season previews for the leagues.  In addition, when these topics are not applicable, I will write about various games and events I find interesting.  Ultimately, we will see how it goes and where this all leads.

Thanks in advance for bearing with me and reading my thoughts...
